The group stage draw for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast will take place on October 12, according to the Confederation of African Football.
The CAF Executive Committee approved the date at its Congress on Thursday in Algiers, Algeria, and it was announced on Friday.
In its Friday statement, CAF said “The EXCO announced that the Official draw of the Africa Cup of Nations Ivory Coast 2023 will be conducted on Thursday, 12 October 2023.”
The competition, which will now officially begin in January 2024, has now been confirmed to include holders Senegal, Algeria, Tunisia, South Africa, Morocco, and Burkina Faso among the nations who have qualified.
Nigeria, which has nine points after four games and leads Group A, will face Sierra Leone and Sao Tome and Principe in their final two group games next month to determine their tournament eligibility.
