The All Progressives Congress’s youth wing on Wednesday invited the 28 people running for the party’s presidential nomination to a town hall meeting before the primaries.
This was said in a statement that Dayo Israel, the national youth leader for the APC, put out in Abuja.
Israel said that the two-day meeting that would start on May 27 at the APC Youths Presidential Town Hall in Abuja would give Nigerian youths an idea of what each presidential candidate has planned for them if they are elected.
Even though it’s not clear if the bigwigs like Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the national leader of the party, and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, along with the other 26 presidential candidates, will be there, Israel said that it’s time for the organization to put the interests of ordinary Nigerian youths first.
The statement said, “In a few days, our party delegates will meet in Abuja for the Special Convention/Presidential Primaries to choose the Presidential Candidate of our Great Party, the APC. Some of the candidates have gone around the country to speak to delegates, but the youth wing of our party doesn’t seem to be very interested in them.
“We think that since we have the most votes and the most people, it would be best for us to sit down with all of the APC presidential candidates if/when they are elected and hear what they have to say to us as young progressives.
“Because of this, the Office of the National Youth Leader will hold a “2023 APC Presidential Aspirant Town Hall Meeting with Young progressives” with the theme: “What do you have for the youth?”
