The Peoples Democratic Party’s 3,700 delegates have been romping up campaigns ahead of the party’s presidential primary scheduled for May 28-29, 2022.
The number of engagements by aspirants and party delegates has risen dramatically in the last 48 hours, according to reports.
This, it was discovered, is a direct result of the party’s National Executive Committee’s decision to open the contest for its sole Presidential ticket.
Former PDP governors and senior members of the National Working Committee are among those who have taken temporary residence in Washington.
Bukola Saraki, Anyim Pius Anyim, and industrialist Sam Uhuabunwa, three of the aspirants for Nigeria’s presidency, held separate meetings with statutory and other delegates on Thursday alone.
Breakfast was served at the Ballroom, a private hotel located in the heart of the city’s business district, for more than 1,500 attendees.
He used the opportunity to ask for their support in the upcoming primary and to lay out his vision for the country if he wins the nomination and becomes President.
The aspirant said he would rebuild the country if given the opportunity. “I will serve as a link between Muslims and Christians,” he declared. Bridge between North and South is my job. That’s because I represent all Nigerians.
A new era begins in 2023, the year when we can finally say, ‘no more,’ and move forward as one people and one nation towards our God-assigned destiny of becoming the greatest black nation on the face of the earth. It is the year when we can finally say, ‘no more,’ and move forward as one people and one nation towards this destiny.”
Mr. Obama told former NWC officials in Garki to vote according to their conscience during an audience with them in his private office.
“Nigeria’s leadership problem,” he declared. Our country will benefit greatly if we choose the right person to join our ranks, as I always tell my students, so let’s do the right thing. The future of our children, Nigeria, and our party, the PDP, should always be on our minds.” When Anyim was elected, he vowed to restore party power and ensure that all delegates were included in the decision-making process if he was elected president of Nigeria.
At the Immaculate Hotel and Suits in Wuse II, Sam Uhuabumwa told the delegates that he wanted to leave behind a Nigeria that worked for all Nigerians, regardless of their social, political, religious, or ethnic heritage. That’s what he said, and it’s what he predicted would happen if Nigeria had the right leadership.
PDP gubernatorial nominations have sparked unrest among states
Some state chapters of the Peoples Democratic Party are experiencing a crisis of confidence in the party’s leadership as the party’s governorship primaries approach.
There have already been several groups formed to raise the alarm or defend the interests of aspirants.
Cross River State PDP Professionals (CROSPP), a group of party members in the state, have accused former governor Donald Duke of plotting to make Arthur Jarvis University founder Arthur Jarvis Archibong the PDP’s gubernatorial candidate in Cross Rivers State.
Several prominent members of the party, including Senator Gershom Bassey, Congressman Daniel Asuquo, and Ambassador Nkoyo Toyo accuse the former governor of attempting to thwart their legitimate ambitions by blocking their path to power.
Foreman Okon Edem-Ita warned that ceding control to one person or allowing any form of imposition would cost the PDP state working committee dearly.
According to the politician, “As professionals within the PDP, we lly opposed to the deterioration of our party’s chances at the forthcoming governorship election in Cross River State.”
No matter how many men and women reach voting age, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) will win the next governorship election because “we will never give the PDP a defeat.”
PDP National Working Committee was petitioned by another group in Gombe State, who argued that a provisional clearance given to a governorship candidate, Ardo Babayo Kumo, was erroneous.
According to a petition signed by Abubakar Balarabe, the Ethnic and Corporate Compliance Institute of Nigeria, the aspirant had been serving as the Permanent Secretary of the Federation at the time of his clearance.
It was noted that Dr. Ardo Babayo Kumo is a civil servant and serves as the Permanent Secretary in charge of the Niger Delta Ministry. The petitioners demanded that he be disqualified.
As a result, the candidate and the party could be disqualified from consideration because he was a civil servant at the time of the issuance of the clearance certificate.”
Don wants to cancel the fraudulent congresses in 2023
Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been asked by the Director of the Abuja School of Social and Political Thoughts, Professor Sam Amadi, to refuse to recognize congresses held in violation of statutory rules and regulations.
All Progressives Congress and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) parties have had several congresses in the last four weeks, according to Amadi.
An election management body received a letter from him containing this information. It is imperative that INEC not renege on its constitutional duties, as stated in the existing laws that govern Nigerian political party primaries, according to Amadi, an Associate Professor of law.
When the political parties appear to be violating the Electoral Aof ct, 2022 in some ways…the Commission must step in to ensure that the fundamental principles of electoral democracy as laid out in the constitution and new electoral law are not jeopardized.
“The new electoral law is critical in establishing democracy and accountable governance in Nigeria, and this must be emphasized.
Nigeria’s electoral democracy has been taken over by a few political stalwarts, who have turned party leadership into a weapon against the democratic freedoms of Nigerians and democracy’s consolidation.”
