2023 Elections: Female APC Governorship Candidate Emerges in Adamawa

Senator Aishatu Binani has made history as she became the first female to win the governorship ticket in Adamawa of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The senator who represents Adamawa Central in the senatorial district scored a total of 430 votes to defeat her rivals.

The primary, which took place at the Lamido Cinema in Yola, the Adamawa State capital, started at about 5:00 pm on Thursday and lasted till Friday morning before counting began.

The chairman of the Electoral Committee, Gambo Lawan, announced the result; the accredited votes were 1,009, valid votes is 975, invalid vote is 36.

According to the Chairman, Binani scored 430 votes to defeat her closest contestant, a former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Nuhu Ribadu, who got 288 votes, the immediate past governor of the state, Jibrilla Bindow came third with 103 votes.
