The U.S Crackdown on Chinese Chip Manufacturers not to affect Samsung, SK Hynix

No Comments Share:

In order to hinder Beijing’s technology goals and obstruct its military advancements, the Biden administration intends to exempt SK Hynix and Samsung from the brunt of new limitations on memory chipmakers in China.

The Commerce Department will likely reject requests from American suppliers to send equipment to Chinese companies like Yangtze Memory Technologies Co Ltd (YMTC) and ChangXin Memory Technologies, Inc (CXMT) if they are producing advanced DRAM or flash memory chips, according to Reuters.

The Commerce Department plans to announce new restrictions on technology exports to China this week.

According to insiders, however, license requests to sell equipment to foreign businesses that manufacture advanced memory chips in China would be examined on a case-by-case basis, potentially allowing them to obtain the machinery.
