Secretary to the Government of the Federation Boss Mustapha and National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Sen. Abdullahi Adamu have received the National Productivity Order of Merit Award for their contributions to Nigerian productivity.

Adamu and Mustapha, along with 46 other prominent Nigerians and organizations in both the public and private sectors, received the award at the 19th National Productivity Day on Thursday for their high productivity, hard work, and excellence.

In addition to Chike Ihekweazu, the award went to Prof Akin Abayomi, Lagos State Commissioner for Health; Abdusamad Rabiu, Chairman and Founder of BUA Group; and Mike Adenuga Jnr, Chairman of Globacom.

Among those honored were Prof. Stanley Okolo, Director-General of the West African Health Organization, and Allen Onyema, Chairman/CEO of Air Peace.

The 2019/2020 edition of National Productivity Day honored Dr. Stella Adadevoh and Mr. Babatunde Lawal with posthumous awards in their honor.

Dr. Adadevoh, who passed away on August 19, 2014, was honored for her heroic efforts in the fight against the Ebola virus, and Lawal, who served as Permanent Secretary in the Cabinet Affairs Office until his death on November 6, 2020, was also honored for his contributions.

He was praised for his “thoroughness and paying keen attention to every detail” while serving as permanent secretary in the Federal Civil Service because Babatunde is an economist by training.

All of the awardees were congratulated by the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), for their achievements and well-deserved recognition at the event.

“This award should spur you to greater heights,” the President said after hand-picking them from a large field of applicants.

Muhammadu Buhari congratulated the National Productivity Center’s management and staff for a job well done and urged the recipients of the merit award and Nigerians to focus on increasing productivity.

Chris Ngige, the Minister of Labour and Employment, said that since the award’s inception in 1991, 382 individuals and 97 organizations have received the NPOM.
