Breaking: AMAA founder, Peace Anyiam-Osigwe Dead

Peace Anyiam-Osigwe, a pioneer in Nigeria’s entertainment sector and the creator of the esteemed AMAA Awards, has passed away.

After being in a coma since Saturday, she reportedly passed away at St. Nicolas Hospital in Lagos.

While her coworkers and close friends, some of whom visited her in the hospital, refused to believe the news of her death, insisting that she was just in the ICU, renowned filmmaker Zik Zulu broke the news.

“Our President, Peace, has passed. As at Saturday, she was reported to be in coma at Saint Nicholas. But now her family has confirmed her transition. May the memory of her life be a blessing. Rest in peace, dear Peace, he writes on a Nollywood platform.”

Despite the family’s best efforts to be polite in disclosing the news, award-winning producer Obi Emelonye also acknowledged her passing on via his social media accounts.

Given how much she contributed to the industry, the hardworking woman would go down in history as one of those who helped to define the new Nollywood.

In addition to being one of the most well-known people in Nollywood, Peace Anyiam-Osigwe founded the African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) and served as the president of Association of Movie Producers, AMP.
