How Nigerian Boys, Dessers, Okereke Led Cromonese to Giant Killing Run Against Mourinho’s Roma in Copa Italia

Cremonese continued their remarkable run in the Copa Italia, securing a 2-1 victory over Roma and advancing to the tournament’s semifinals for the first time since 1987.

Despite struggling in Serie A and currently sitting at the bottom of the league without a win, Cremonese made headlines by knocking out Napoli in the round of 16. And they continued to turn heads with their performance against Roma at the Stadio Olimpico.

Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers opened the scoring for Cremonese with a penalty, after Rui Patricio fouled him in the box. Dessers confidently dispatched the spot kick to give his side a 1-0 lead after 28 minutes.

At halftime, Dessers was substituted for Okereke. Despite the barrage of attacks from Roma, the Grigiorossi held on to their lead and even added a second goal when Roma defender Zeki Celik scored an own goal.

Andrea Bellotti pulled one back for Roma in stoppage time, but it was not enough to stop Cremonese from securing the 2-1 victory and earning their spot in the semifinals.

The result marks a remarkable run for Cremonese and solidifies their reputation as giant killers in the Copa Italia.
