Dana Air’s decision to ground its aircraft for regular maintenance inspections has been praised by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority.
Dana Air reportedly grounded all of its planes so that they could undergo maintenance inspections, according to Captain Musa Nuhu, the Director General of NCAA.
“They noticed that some of their aircraft were due for maintenance, and they informed us accordingly. I think it is commendable for an operator to ground its aircraft for maintenance.”
He added that once the maintenance check was complete, the airline would let the government know.
On Sunday, February 26, however, the airline announced that operations will resume.
The airline had already notified its clients via a statement on its official Instagram account in the early hours of Friday that there will be no flight operations on Saturday, February 25, due to the general elections.
The statement read,” Please be informed that we will not be operating on Friday, 24th and 25th of February 2023 due to the presidential and National Assembly elections.
“However, we will be operating as scheduled from Sunday, 26th February 2023.”
When asked the if the airline would resume operations by Sunday, he said, “The agreement is that they will notify us when they are due to resume and I think they said they are going to send us something today, once they give us and we are okay, then they can resume operations.”
As a result, Kingsley Ezenwa, the Dana Air spokesperson, responded as follows: “When there is a reduction in capacity, you just have to find a way to protect your passengers and once your capacity increases, you can schedule your flights.”
