Nigerian striker Gift Orban stated that he lives for goals and said that he is eager for more after scoring his third hat trick for Gent in their 4-0 victory over Cercle Brugge on Saturday.
Following his €3.5 million transfer from Norwegian club Stabaek to Gent in January, the 21-year-old has been nothing short of extraordinary.
Orban’s excellent performance has seen him score 19 goals and record two assists in 19 outings for Gent, guiding them to the league playoffs where he scored five goals in three games.
The forward, who had scored twice in each of their previous two games, was on a tear once more on Saturday, scoring a hat-trick to lead Gent to a convincing victory over Cercle Brugge at the Jan Breydel Stadium.
The Buffaloes were playing in their third match of the Jupiler League playoffs, and thanks to Nigeria’s exceptional form, they had won all three.
Following his great performance, Orban admitted to the club media team that he was not at all happy with his showing.
Speaking with the media, Orban said, “Every match is important to me. Three goals are not enough for me, I want more. But every striker just wants to score. I live for goals.”
Because of his three goals against Istanbul Basaksehir in just 205 seconds in March, Orban owns the record for the quickest hat trick ever seen in a UEFA club competition.
