Nottingham Forest announced on Tuesday that Nigerian defender Ola Aina had been chosen as the team’s September Player of the Month.

The club reports that Aina received 40% of all the votes cast by fans.

Aina succeeds his countryman Taiwo Awoniyi, who took home the prize in August.

The 26-year-old had three appearances for the Tricky Trees in the reviewed month as they defeated Manchester City 2-0 and defeated Chelsea 1-0 at Stamford Bridge. They also drew 1-1 with Burnley at the City Ground and drew 1-1 with Manchester City at the Bridge.

Aina has contributed five times to Forest’s current Premier League campaign since joining the club on a free transfer after leaving Torino.
