Airtel Africa has officially revealed the retirement of its Chief Executive Officer, Segun Ogunsanya, paving the way for Sunil Taldar to assume the position as the new CEO.
The telecom giant made the announcement through a corporate filing on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, disclosing that Sunil Taldar would take the reins as the head of Airtel Africa’s board on July 1, 2024, coinciding with Ogunsanya’s retirement.
Sunil Taldar’s journey with Airtel Africa began in October 2023 when he joined as the Director of Transformation. Prior to this role, Taldar held the position of Director of Market Operations at Bharti Airtel, the parent company of Airtel Africa.
A Delhi University alumnus, Taldar’s career trajectory has been marked by notable leadership roles. His initial tenure with Airtel Africa saw him taking charge as the Director of Transformation. Before joining Airtel Africa, Taldar had already established himself within the Bharti Airtel ecosystem.
Following his role as the Director of Market Operations at Bharti Airtel, Sunil Taldar shifted his focus to Cadbury China, where he served as the General Manager. His career further took him to Mondelez Indonesia, where he held a similar position. Taldar’s earlier stints included serving as the General Manager for Cadbury India.
In 2016, Taldar assumed the responsibility of Director of Direct-to-Home Business at Bharti Airtel, one of India’s major telecommunication multinationals.
