Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun MFR, announced ambitious plans to elevate the Ojude Oba Festival to global prominence during the 2024 celebration in Ijebu-Ode.
Governor Abiodun highlighted the festival’s impressive evolution from a local gathering to an event that now attracts national and international audiences. The festival, which has become a significant cultural heritage event, draws both local and foreign tourists to Ogun State, offering a vibrant display of the state’s hospitality and rich traditions.
“This festival symbolizes our unity and serves as a rallying point for the Ijebu people to celebrate our culture and our revered monarch,” said Governor Abiodun. “It promotes the development of Ijebuland and ensures the preservation of our traditions for future generations.”
The governor expressed his commitment to making the Ojude Oba Festival a permanent fixture in the global tourism industry. He extended gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support and revealed plans to have the festival recognized by UNESCO as a world cultural heritage event.
Governor Abiodun also emphasized the state government’s dedication to creating a conducive environment for business. He called for unity and harmony among the people of Ogun State to build a prosperous future together.

In addition to promoting cultural heritage, the state government is focused on fostering community development. Governor Abiodun solicited support for the upcoming 20th National Sports Festival, Gateway Games 2024, part of which will be hosted in Ijebu-Ode.
