Dr. (Mrs.) Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, the First Lady of Lagos State, is an embodiment of compassion, dedication, relentless service, and magnificence whose numerous contributions to the state go far and beyond. She is not only a supportive wife and mother but also a nurturing figure to countless individuals across Lagos. Her various initiatives through the Office of the First Lady have had a profound impact on the lives of many.

Dr. (Mrs.) Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, the First Lady of Lagos State, has consistently demonstrated her commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of the people. Her initiatives and programs, rooted in compassion and service, have significantly impacted various segments of society, reflecting her dedication to creating a better world for all.

One of the hallmark programs under her leadership is the Senior Citizens Support initiative. This program addresses the needs of elderly citizens across Lagos State, providing physical, financial, and medical assistance. Additionally, Dr. Sanwo-Olu has been a fervent advocate against Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV), leading campaigns and interventions to protect and empower vulnerable groups.

The Boy Child Initiative, another flagship program, focuses on the welfare and wellbeing of young boys, ensuring they receive the necessary support to thrive. In education, the Lagos Exams Support program aids students in low-cost schools by covering outstanding fees, ensuring they can sit for crucial examinations like the Senior Secondary School WAEC exams.

Through her direct interventions, Dr. Sanwo-Olu has made significant strides in improving school infrastructure. The recent commissioning of Ogombo Senior High School, a state-of-the-art facility, is a testament to her commitment to education. The school boasts 15 modern classrooms, laboratories, ICT centers, and amenities for physically challenged students, ensuring an inclusive learning environment.

Under her leadership, the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO) has extended support to over 40 orphanages, providing essential items and infrastructure improvements. This initiative ensures that children in orphanages receive the care and resources needed for their development. Additionally, COWLSO has organized seminars on sanitation, security, and safety for market leaders, promoting hygienic and secure market environments across Lagos State.

Dr. Sanwo-Olu has also championed financial literacy through empowerment programs, the Muslim Sisters Seminar, and the Greater Lagos Arts Exhibition. These platforms foster conversations and initiatives that drive positive change, encouraging women and youth to engage in meaningful economic activities.

Aligned with the Renewed Hope Initiative Elderly Support Scheme, Dr. Sanwo-Olu has supported vulnerable elderly citizens by providing financial assistance and essential items. This initiative, spearheaded by Nigeria’s First Lady, aims to uplift the elderly across the country.

Before her role as First Lady, Dr. Sanwo-Olu had a distinguished career as a Consultant Anaesthetist. She served the Lagos State Government for 25 years, rising to the positions of Chief Medical Director and Chief Executive Officer of Harvey Road Comprehensive Health Centre, Yaba, and later General Hospital, Somolu. Her expertise in anaesthesia and dedication to patient care have made her a respected figure in the medical community.
