‘Soromidayo George: A Leading Force in Corporate Affairs and Sustainable Business in West Africa

Oluwasoromidayo George is a high-performing Director of Corporate Affairs and Sustainable Business with Unilever, overseeing operations across Ghana and Nigeria. With an extensive background in sustainable business development, corporate social responsibility (CSR), external relations, and policy advocacy, she has become a leading figure in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector and non-profit organizations.

Her strategic leadership has driven groundbreaking initiatives, ensuring companies maintain steady growth while aligning with sustainable development frameworks. ‘Soromidayo is adept at working with executive teams to refine corporate strategies, policies, and processes to achieve optimized workflows, cost efficiency, and impactful external relations programs.

Before joining Unilever, ‘Soromidayo became the first female Executive Director of the British American Tobacco Nigeria Foundation and served as Head of Corporate Affairs for British American Tobacco in West & Central Africa. She is the co-founder of the Corporate Social Responsibility and Governance Institute.

‘Soromidayo is active in several influential organizations, including the Advisory Board of the Commonwealth Women Business Network and AIESEC Nigeria’s Board of Advisors. She’s also a Fellow at the WIMBOARD Institute and recently appointed Chairperson of the UN Global Compact Local Committee in Nigeria.

In addition to her executive roles, ‘Soromidayo has contributed to various World Bank projects and authored numerous publications on CSR, sustainable development, and social responsibility. With advanced degrees in Sociology, Corporate Communications, and Public Affairs, her academic background is as robust as her career, including training at Harvard Business School’s CSR Workshop.

Spearheading CSR in Nigeria, she launched the country’s first CSR newsletter and was honored with the Best CSR Practitioner award by the Social Enterprise and Reporting Awards committee.
