The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has finalized discussions with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to reinstate Emirates Airlines’ flight operations to Nigeria, scheduled for October 1st.
Accompanied by his technical team, Keyamo secured key agreements, including a new Bilateral Air Service Agreement (BASA), aimed at fostering stronger aviation ties between the two countries. The agreement also grants reciprocal rights, enabling Nigerian airlines to operate direct flights to the UAE.
“Today’s discussions reaffirm our commitment to fostering a balanced and forward-looking partnership with the UAE,” Keyamo stated. “We are pleased to have secured reciprocal operational rights for Nigerian airlines, which will strengthen the global competitiveness of Nigeria’s aviation industry.”
The resumption of Emirates flights follows weeks of diplomatic and technical consultations between both nations.
