Former AC Milan legend Dida has urged Nigerian goalkeeper Maduka Okoye to continue working hard to reach the highest level of his career. Okoye, who currently plays for Udinese, has shown significant improvement since his move from Watford, keeping five clean sheets in 21 games last season and one clean sheet in six games this season.
In a heartfelt message to Dida, Okoye expressed his admiration for the Brazilian legend, saying, “Ciao Nelson, I think you already know that I am a big fan of yours. I hope that one day we can meet. I hope that you have heard of me, that you have seen my saves and that you can help me grow and reach your level. This is my wish.”
Dida responded with words of encouragement for the 25-year-old. “He is a goalkeeper who can do a lot in this championship. One thing I told him is that this is a tough championship, and it is not easy. There are many things off the pitch that you have to manage,” Dida said. “He must have the ability to keep his mind only for his job and for what he is capable of doing. So, a lot of training, work, and work. My advice is always that.”
Dida added, “Work certainly pays off, and he is a goalkeeper that I like a lot, who can do a lot in this championship here.”
