Ambassador Eche Abu-Obe, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, disclosed this in a statement on Friday, noting that the government is prioritizing the protection and safety of Nigerian nationals in Lebanon.

“Further to the deteriorating situation in Lebanon over the Israel-Hezbollah conflict, the government has commenced preparations for evacuation of Nigerians in Lebanon back to Nigeria,” Abu-Obe said.

He added that the Nigerian Embassy in Lebanon has been issuing regular advisories to the community, urging them to consider voluntary evacuation. Additionally, Nigerian nationals in the southern region of Lebanon have already been relocated to safer areas, including Beirut.

The spokesperson confirmed that no Nigerian life has been lost since the conflict began and reassured the public that the government remains fully engaged with stakeholders to ensure the safety of its citizens.
