Abisola Munis, Ann: The Astute Steering Hands Behind Nigeria’s Political Machinery

For Chief Mrs Munis Abisola Ann, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Hearing and Event Management to The Senate President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, every woman is a formidable force that cannot be thwarted. She solely believes that women supporting women can only make a society develop within the shortest time possible.

She studied at the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Oun State before proceeding to study at the University of Cambridge, Transformation Leadership [Organizational Change/2014] and University of North America, [International Leadership, Government Economy, Negotiation, Communication and Fundraising [2018].

Serving her way through the political landscape of Nigeria in various capacities over the years, Abisola has delivered on leveling the playing field for the Nigerian women both nationally and internationally. An ever-present player in Lagos power field, Abisola has continued to walk the corridors of power right from Lagos State to the National levels, proving her prowess as a no-push-over woman.

Abisola, carries herself confidently, quipped with an independent mind, started leaving indispensable trails of excellence in 2011 upon her appointment as the Senior Special Assistant to the Speaker of the Lagos Assembly, on Public Relations and Media. She diligently delivered on campaigns and public relations issues at the Mudashiru Obasa office in the state. She also successfully organised exemplary courtesy visits, media parleys and liaison duties between the office of the speaker and its publics.

Not one to be just another face in the crowd, Abisola Munis was called upon to serve as the Senior Special Assistant to the Lagos State Speaker, on Protocol and Foreign Affairs. As the Special Assistant to the Speaker, she was assigned the lead responsibility to plan, execute, coordinate and get protocol approval for special events and social functions that were related to the Speaker’s office.

How tight and cumbersome can such a task be for a woman, one would ask but for Abisola, her training in Public Relations back in school prepared her way ahead. She would ensure the responsibility of oversight function for all protocol affairs related to the office of the Speaker. She made sure there were no overlapping calendar schedules for the Speaker, both within the house and beyond. Her strategic proposals on entertainment in collaboration with appropriate designates landed on the table of the Speaker.

Lagos State being an ever-evolving economic hub, leaders would need detailed management and oversight monitoring. In 2016, the Speaker of the Lagos Assembly appointed Abisola Munis Ann as a Senior Special Assistant on Establishment to Lagos State House of Assembly Service Commission.

Moving up the ladder of power, Abisola Munis has been appointed as a Senior Special Assistant on Public Hearing and Event Management to the 10th Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Godswill Akpabio. Her resilience matches her resolve, a testament to her mantra that women can achieve what task is set before them.

Abisola is an astute manager of resources with strong background in management of protocol services with a career spanning 13 years. Ingrained with a strong entrepreneurial drive, she has easily adapted and excelled in different business environment. Having managed complex human and material resources to optimal satisfaction over the years, Abisola is endeared to the heart of many, in the private and public sector.
