“Okikiola The Fisherman” tells a compelling story of love, greed, resilience, deceit, and the dangers of making wrong decisions. Agoro highlighted the film’s intent to not only entertain but also to celebrate and preserve the unique traditions and beliefs of Osun. “The movie is a cinematic masterpiece that highlights the beauty and significance of our original religion, capturing both rural and urban locations, the essence of our people, history, and folklore,” she explained.

The premiere is a tribute to the Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, for his invaluable support during the movie’s post-production. “When his attention was drawn to this culturally significant movie, Governor Ademola Adeleke became a champion of arts and culture by supporting it. So, I decided to honor him at the premiere as a way of thanking him and the Osun State government for their contribution to preserving our cultural heritage,” Agoro said.

Governor Adeleke’s involvement has brought international attention to the film, attracting audiences from diverse backgrounds. Thirteen foreigners from the US, Mexico, Spain, and Venezuela are set to make grand appearances at the premiere, showcasing their embrace of Yoruba culture by dancing to traditional songs and speaking the native language.

Notable guests to grace the occasion include Chief Bayo Odunuga, Senator Ahmad Sani Yerima, Dr. Aisha Achimugu amongst others. The film features an impressive cast, including notable actors such as Kunle Afolayan, Bolanle Ninalowo, Faithia Balogun, Baaj Adebule, Jumoke George, Don Richard, Baba Olaiya, and Segun Ogungbe. The inclusion of foreign actors speaking Yoruba and practicing Osun traditions highlights the universal appeal and cultural significance of the film.

Daughter of the late presidential candidate Olopade Agoro and a trustee at the Tender True Care Initiative, Agoro’s multifaceted career underscores her commitment to cultural preservation and storytelling.
