By giving three members of the 1994 Super Eagles and other individuals the keys to a three-bedroom bungalow on Tuesday, the federal government carried out a 28-year-old commitment.

The three national football heroes are Mutiu Adepoju, Ike Shorunmu, and Finidi George. Team doctor Akin Amao and Adewale Adesokan, a recipient of the national housing project, also received keys, respectively.

At the project site, Onidundu in the Akinyele Local Government area of Oyo state, Babatunde Fashola, the minister of works and housing, gave them the keys and remarked, “The beneficiaries are among the first set of Nigerians including the 1994 Super Eagles who would be handed keys to their houses that was promised by the Federal government over 28 years ago.

“We have entered a season of completion and handover of keys to beneficiaries in 35 states and the FCT to Nigerians who have successfully subscribed through the open ministry’s website for the sales of these completed houses.”

Fashola urged all Nigerians to take advantage of the chance to own a home in the 35 states and the FCT that have been finished, with the exception of Lagos state, through open access on the ministry website. Fashola was represented by the Federal Comptroller (Housing Sector), Gbolahun Adesola.

According to him, the government has four Nigerians in Oyo state who have fully paid for the homes of their choice within the estate, which comprises 48 two- and three-bedroom flats.

The minister urged Nigerians and residents of the state to take advantage of the enormous number of units that remain unsold.

Seyi Makinde, the governor of the state, expressed his gratitude for the massive project being undertaken in the state and promised that the state government will allocate the project’s land to the federal ministry of labor and housing.

Makinde, the director of land management, speaking on behalf of the ministry, asked it to utilize more areas of the allotted lands.

Adepoju, Shorunmu, and Yetunde Adeniyi, who filled in for Amao, thanked God for granting them the opportunity to witness such a momentous occasion in a post-program interview with journalists.

Adepoju said, “I just have to be thankful to God and President Buhari for doing this during our lives time. 28 years, I am happy and thank God for the honour.”

Shoronmu added, “I’ve never lost any hope in my country because if I did I would have relocated to Europe.”
