African footballers were in top form this weekend, impressing fans with their skills and talent on the pitch.

In the Italian Serie A, Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen led Napoli to a 2-1 victory over AS Roma at the Diego Maradona Stadium. Osimhen scored a stunning goal, which even Jose Mourinho has acknowledged, to give the Neapolitans an early advantage.

Although Roma equalised in the second half, Simeone’s late effort earned the maximum points for Napoli, keeping the club steady in its pursuit of a first Serie A title in 33 years.

In the Primera División Femenina, Asisat Oshoala was the standout player as Barcelona crushed Granadilla Tenerife 6-0. Oshoala scored her 13th goal of the season, showing her dominance as one of the best players in the league.

In the Belgian First Division A, Paul Onuachu was at his predatory best to guide KRC Genk to a convincing 4-0 win over RFC Seraing. Onuachu set the tone of the evening with a fine penalty in the 7th minute and later scored the hosts’ third, establishing a six-point lead over second-place Union Saint-Gilloise.

In the Czech Liga, Peter Olayinka scored a brilliant brace to help Slavia Prague secure a comprehensive 5-1 victory over Jablonec. Meanwhile, Victor Olatunji scored on his debut but could not lead Slovan Liberec to victory as they settled for a 1-1 draw at home to Pardubice.

In Portugal, Bruno Onyemaechi grabbed his first Primeira Liga goal of the season to lead Boavista to a 4-2 victory at home to Portimonense. And in Turkey, Nigerian striker Aminu Umar came off the bench to score the winning goal in Bodrumspor’s 2-1 away win over Adanaspor.

These impressive performances by African footballers have once again shown that they have what it takes to succeed at the highest level of the sport.
