At the completion of the 12th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, the Confederation of African Football released their best 11 players from the tournament together with Super Falcons’ Rasheedat Ajibade and Osinachi Ohale.
Atletico Madrid forward Ajibade and Deportivo Alaves defender Ohale. As stated by CAF, the duo are Nigeria’s most prominent stars in Morocco.
Regardless of missing the third-place game against Zambia, after being shown a straight red card in the semi-final against hosts Morocco, Ajibade still ended the tournament as the joint-top scorer with three goals and three assists.
The 22-year-old scored in the Falcons’ 2-1 defeat to South Africa, before scoring more goals against Burundi and Cameroon.
Ajibade was however excellent in the attack, veteran defender and four-time WAFCON winner and Ohale likewise put up a solid performance defensively for the Falcons, which helped the team keep three clean sheets at the tournament.
The 30-year-old even picked up a Woman-of-The-Match award in honour of her brilliance in Nigeria’s 1-0 win over Cameroon in the quarter-finals.
The two players were also included in the tournament’s best 11 after the group stage.
Ohale and Ajibade joined nine other stars from three other semi-finalists to make up CAF’s best XI for the 2022 Championship.
While runners-up Morocco have three representatives, bronze medallists Zambia have two players among Africa’s best six.
