The Ogun State Police Command has arrested eight students of Ifo High School over their alleged involvement in cult-related activities.
The students, all between the ages of 15 and 16, were taken into custody following reports of intimidation, extortion, and attempts to recruit fellow students into a cult group.
The school’s Vice Principal, Alako Oluwole, and a teacher, Akinseku Oloruntoba Julius, alerted the police after noticing suspicious activities among the students. Acting on this report, law enforcement officers launched an investigation that led to the arrest of the following students:

According to the Ogun State Police spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, the students were allegedly involved in coercing their peers, engaging in unlawful activities, and promoting cultism within the school. Investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of their involvement and to identify any other individuals connected to the group.
The arrests have sparked concerns among parents and school authorities about the growing influence of cultism among secondary school students. Many are calling for increased security measures, awareness programs, and stricter disciplinary actions to curb the rise of such activities in schools.
The police have assured the public of their commitment to eradicating cultism in Ogun State and have urged parents and teachers to closely monitor students’ behavior to prevent them from falling into criminal associations. Authorities warn that any individuals found guilty of promoting or participating in cult activities will face legal consequences.
