According to information provided by the management of Eko Electricity Distribution Company, arrangements have been made for the company’s clients to get 20 hours a day of continuous electricity in 2023.
In addition, the business disclosed that as of December 2022, it owes over N116 billion.
This information was provided to newsmen on Thursday during a briefing by Dr. Tinuade Sanda, managing director of EKEDC. She claims that the cost of network vandalism to the corporation increased to N2.5 billion as of December 2022 and should be over N5 billion given the current cable cost estimates.
According to her, “Debts alone from Ministries, Departments & Agencies, MDAs, is about N40 billion, while the total debts owed our company is over N116 billion.”
She added, “We want to work towards ensuring minimum 20 hours electricity supply as we continue to get electricity from the power grid. Installation is still ongoing and we have done 80 out of 150. We are moving closer and closer to our consumers. We tend to decentralize more so that our consumers can reach us”.
