Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg are getting closer to a physical brawl. What began as an internet joke has now turned into a real event, with Musk just revealing that the fight will be broadcast live on X, formerly known as Twitter.
According to Musk’s X account, all earnings will be donated to a veteran-benefiting charity.
With the increase of celebrity fights popularised by online personalities like Logan and Jake Paul, it is not shocking to see two tech millionaires resolve their disagreements with their fists in 2023.
The concept of Musk vs. Zuckerberg dates back to June 2023, when Meta announced plans to build Threads, a competitor to X. Musk mocked the announcement, stating that Earth “can’t wait to be exclusively under Zuck’s thumb with no other options.”
When a Twitter user remarked that Musk should be cautious now because Zuckerberg practises jiu-jitsu, Musk responded, “I’m up for a cage match if he is lol.”
Zuckerberg, who competed in his first jiu-jitsu tournament in May 2023, has made it plain that he wants to battle Musk in a cage match, tweeting a screenshot of the X owner’s tweet on his Instagram account and pleading for Musk to send him the location.
“I’m ready today,” Zuckerberg said on Threads. “I suggested August 26 when he first challenged, but he hasn’t confirmed.” “I’m not holding my breath.”
President Dana White has however volunteered to host the cage match in Las Vegas, calling it the “biggest fight in the world.”
