Federal Government Declares June 17 and 18 Public Holidays for Eid-ul-Adha Celebration

In a statement made on Friday, June 14, the federal government has declared Monday, June 17, and Tuesday, June 18, as public holidays to mark this year’s Eid-ul-Adha (Sallah) celebration. The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the federal government.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo extended his congratulations to all Muslim Ummah, both within the country and abroad, on this significant occasion. He emphasized the importance of embodying the values of peace, kindness, and sacrifice as demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim (Peace be upon Him). The Minister also encouraged the Muslim community to use this period to pray for the unity, prosperity, and stability of Nigeria.

The announcement, detailed in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Aishetu Ndayako, reassured the public of the Administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of all Nigerians.

As the nation prepares to observe these holidays, Dr. Tunji-Ojo conveyed his wishes for a joyous Eid-ul-Adha celebration. He urged all Nigerians to contribute to the collective effort to ensure a prosperous future for the country’s next generation.
