According to Rio Ferdinand, Erling Haaland’s contribution will be the deciding factor in Manchester City’s Champions League victory this year.
Haaland scored his 48th goal of a remarkable season as Man City held Bayern Munich to a 1-1 draw in the Allianz Arena to advance to the quarterfinals of the Champions League 4-1 overall.
The Citizens were under a lot of pressure in the first half, but Haaland’s goal on the 57th minute broke the stalemate. Joshua Kimmich’s penalty kick was too little, too late.
Ferdinand said of Haaland’s performance during an interview with BT Sport: “They (Man City) didn’t have to be at their best, Bayern were brilliant in spells but didn’t have cutting edge up front, this man (Haaland) is an absolute goal machine.
“Is he the problem? That’s what people tried to suggest this guy is the solution that’s what he is.
“He’s coming up in big moments, missed the pen unfazed, another opportunity unfazed, phenomenal player.
“Could he be the icing on the cake to get them over the line? He’s looking like he’s answering every question at every opportunity.
