In the budget for 2023, the Federal Government proposes to spend N854.8 billion on pensions, gratuities, and retiree benefits.
This information was provided by the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retired), at the Friday joint session of the National Assembly in Abuja when he was introducing the 2023 appropriation bill.
He revealed that from January to July 2002, there were 3.24 trillion in non-debt recurrent expenses, of which 2.87 trillion went toward salaries, pensions, and overhead.
He stated that N20.15 trillion would be spent by the government in the fiscal year 2023.
