Ahead of their match against Korea Republic in the FIFA U20 World Cup quarterfinal on Sunday, Nigeria’s U20 football team, the Flying Eagles, have landed in Santiago del Estero, in northern Argentina.
In preparation for their match against Argentina in the FIFA U-20 round of 16, the national squad left Bueno Aires on Friday.
Remember that on Wednesday night in San Juan, Argentina, the hosts and six-time winners, the seven-time African champions Nigeria put on a fantastic performance that earned them the title of favourites.
Ibrahim Muhammad, a winger, scored the game’s first goal in the 61st minute after being set up by Emmanuel Umeh, a striker. And soon after the goal, the Argentine increased the pressure on Nigeria in an effort to get an equaliser. Additionally, the woodwork rejected their request for a leveller.
A goal-scoring hole was discovered by Nigerians as the pressure mounted. The Argentine fans erupted in celebration as they capitalised on the opportunity to score their second goal of the game.
Mike, a sportswriter on social media, announced the Flying Eagles’ departure on Twitter.
“Nigeria’s inspired U20 boys have flown into the northern Argentine city of Santiago del Estero ahead of Sunday’s FIFA U20 World Cup quarter-final clash with their counterparts from Korea Republic,”
“Match is scheduled for the Estadio Unico Madre de Ciudades from 6.30pm,” he announced.
To set up their much anticipated matchup with the Flying Eagles, the Koreans defeated tenacious Ecuador 3-2 on Thursday in their own Round of 16 contest.
