At Westminster Abbey, where she was crowned in 1953, Her Majesty the Queen’s state burial was held.
The funeral kicked start at 11am on Monday 19th September, 2022.
Her Majesty, in relation to her father King George VI, grandfather King George V, great-grandfather King Edward VII, and great-great-grandmother Queen Victoria On the state gun carriage, the Queen’s casket was transported in a procession to Westminster Abbey.
The wreath was created at the King’s request and includes flowers from the royal residence gardens in colours of gold, pink, deep burgundy, and white, as well as foliage from rosemary, English oak, and myrtle (cut from a plant developed from the myrtle in the Queen’s wedding bouquet).
Along with her late husband The Duke of Edinburgh, her parents Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, father King George VI, and sister Princess Margaret, the Queen will be laid to rest.
During the committal service, the Imperial state crown, orb, and sceptre were transferred from Her Majesty’s casket to the high altar at St. George’s Chapel.
The King draped the coffin with the Queen’s company color of the Grenadier guards following the committal service.
In order to symbolize the completion of service, the Lord Chamberlain “broke” his Office wand at the same time and laid it on the coffin.
