Lionel Messi, the icon of Argentina and the recently crowned World Cup champion, took to Instagram on Sunday night to celebrate the victory in Qatar and to express his gratitude to his supporters, family, and nation, stating it was an incredible moment for him.

For the first time since 1986, when Diego Maradona led the Argentine national team to triumph against West Germany, Messi led Argentina to victory over France in the 2022 FIFA World Cup final.

In a thrilling 120-minute game that ended in a 3-3 draw, the two teams battled it out until the final seconds. France’s star player, Kylian Mbappe, scored a hat-trick to tie the score in extra time and force penalties, which Argentina won 4-2, defeating France.
