John Noble, the goalkeeper for the Super Eagles, claims he will resist the urge to take the Nigeria Football Association to FIFA over his unpaid $25,000 AFCON 2021 bonus.
The goalkeeper became a topic of attention last year as it was revealed that the Enyimba goalie was the only member of the team still unpaid from the AFCON 2021 roster.
Noble has spoken up about the dispute since the NFF has not yet kept its commitments.
“It’s been over a year now and I’m tired of asking, I just pray they will pay it.
“It’s possible that I report to FIFA, but this is my country and I don’t want to do anything that will tarnish the image of the country. Even all this while, I never wanted to say anything, I’ve just been begging but it seems the more I beg the longer it takes,” he lamented.
Last year, the NFF announced that Noble will soon receive payment through its Director of Media and Communications, Ademola Olajire, and said that the banking issues that had caused the payment delay had been rectified.
He denied rumours that the federation had expelled the goaltender from the national team when he turned to the media to make his point.
Noble, though, asserted that the NFF had just made promises while recently paying certain other national team players and executives.
Noble was a member of the Super Eagles team that travelled to the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon, where Nigeria lost to Tunisia in the knockout round.
