Investments from US, UK Decline by $242 Million

According to National Bureau of Statistics data on foreign direct investment, the amount of money brought into the country by investors in the UK and the US has decreased by $242.03m.

UK investors contributed $1.02 billion in the first quarter of 2022, while US investors contributed $82.07 million, for a total of $1.10 billion.

The total fell to $861.25 million by the second quarter, with $781.05 million coming from UK investors and $80.02 million from US investors.

In general, from $1.57 billion in Q1 2022 to $1.54 billion in Q2 2022, the total amount of capital import reported from investors and other stakeholders decreased by 2.40 percent.

Economic experts claim that the fall is caused by a variety of factors, including insecurity and the impending general election, among others.
