Israel Launches Airstrikes on Lebanon, Over 130 Killed in Gaza

Israel launched air and artillery strikes on southern Lebanon on Saturday, March 22, 2025, following rocket fire from the region. The attacks targeted areas near Touline, Kfar Melki, Mleeta, and the Wadi al-Hujeir valley. A residential building in Touline was destroyed, leaving one person dead and three others injured. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) stated that the operation was aimed at Hezbollah positions, responding to what they described as an increase in cross-border hostilities.

At the same time, Israeli airstrikes intensified in Gaza, killing at least 130 people in the past two days. Among the dead are women and children, while 263 others were injured, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry. The attacks struck densely populated neighborhoods and key infrastructure, deepening the humanitarian crisis in the region. Israeli authorities claim the strikes were a response to continued rocket attacks from militant groups in Gaza.

The violence has drawn international concern, with the United Nations calling for restraint to prevent further escalation. Lebanon’s President Joseph Aoun has directed the army to prevent any violations of national stability, emphasizing the importance of maintaining peace.

The situation remains volatile, with fears of a broader conflict looming as both sides exchange accusations and retaliatory actions. The international community also continues to monitor the developments closely, advocating for a return to negotiations and a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict.
