The Premier League’s official website, premierleague.com, lists Alex Iwobi as the league’s top forward passer, making the Everton midfielder the best passer overall in the league.
Along with Bernado Silva of Manchester City, Iwobi is also the joint-second player with the most assists in the EPL (five).
Since the conclusion of the previous season, Iwobi has improved his Everton career and emerged as their top player.
Iwobi delivered a masterful performance against Crystal Palace on Saturday, assisting two goals and sprinkling forward passes all game long as the Toffees defeated them 3-0.
He completed 13 passes in the last third of the field and two successful long balls while recording 53 touches, three critical passes, and an 87 percent pass success rate. A 100% tackle success rate and four-ball recoveries helped the former Arsenal player win Man-of-The-Match honors on defense as well.
Iwobi has been able to move forward more thanks to the balanced midfield, and in his last eight games, he’s started to reap the rewards with one goal and five assists.
The 26-year-old outperformed Gabriel Jesus (287), Harry Kane (265) of Tottenham Hotspur, Gabriel Jesus (352), and Bukayo Saka (352), all of Arsenal, to take the top spot with 476 passes made this season.
Joelinton of Newcastle (381), Bobby De Cordova-Reid of Fulham (362), Leandro Trossard of Brighton (333), Ivan Toney (267), Jadon Sancho (285) and Demarai Gray are other players in the top ten.
Iwobi was used in the No. 6 position at the beginning of the season, and he was effective. He has adapted well to playing in the center since he is at ease in possession and adept at moving the ball around.
Even when the opponent applied pressure, he was able to break the press or maintain composure when in possession.
