Due to his outstanding play for the Toffees in September, Everton midfielder Alex Iwobi has been shortlisted for the Premier League’s Player of The Month award.

Iwobi will face Philip Billing of Bournemouth, Kevin De Bruyne of Manchester City, Jacob Ramsey of Aston Villa, Marcus Rashford of Manchester United, and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg of Tottenham Hotspur.

The 25-year-old Nigerian has been in outstanding form for the Toffees this season and is presently training with the Eagles in Oran in preparation for their friendly match against Algeria.

In a new, deeper central-midfield position, he has drawn attention. He first assisted Everton in holding Liverpool to a scoreless draw before assisting a goal against West Ham that gave the Toffees their first victory of 2022–23. Iwobi is in the running to win the prize for the first time in his career thanks to his performances.

According to Everton, “IWOBINHO… @alexiwobi has been nominated for September’s @premierleague Player of the Month award. Well deserved, Alex!”

The Nigerian acknowledged on Everton’s YouTube page that Goodison Park is where he is having the most fun.

He said: “I think this is my best moment. I feel like this is my most confident time at Everton and an enjoyable time.”

Additionally, he was cited as the Premier League player of the week by Alan Shearer.

If Iwobi wins the Premier League Player of the Month award, he will join Austin Okocha, Osaze Odemwingie, Odion Ighalo, and Kelechi Iheanacho as the only other Nigerians to have received the honor.

In 190 EPl games, Iwobi has tallied 15 goals and 22 assists.

The three candidates for Manager of the Month are Antonio Conte, Gary O’Neil, and Erik ten Hag.

Impressive achievements were managed by all three coaches in September. The winner, who will be announced the following week, will be determined by adding the votes of the public and a group of football experts.
