Japanese fashion designer Issey Miyake dies at 84

Japanese fashion designer Issey Miyake has died aged 84.

The Kyodo news agency reported Miyake died of liver cancer last Friday.

Miyake shot to fame with his designs incorporating cutting-edge silhouettes and pleated fabrics in a career spanning more than half a century.

He was best known for producing the signature black turtleneck of his friend and the Apple founder Steve Jobs

He graduated from the Tama University, Tokyo in 1963 with a degree in graphic design.

He worked for different fashion houses in Paris and New York
