Eddie Hearn, Anthony Joshua’s promoter, has claimed that the British-Nigerian is eager to win back the heavyweight championships when he returns to the ring in April to face Jermaine Franklin.
In his first match after suffering two straight defeats to Oleksandr Usyk, Joshua will try to salvage his career against the American at London’s O2 Arena.
The Watford fighter would probably be eliminated from contention for the world title if he lost against Franklin, but promoter Hearn is certain the former two-time unified heavyweight champion will turn things around in spectacular fashion.
Speaking to BBC, Hearn said, “It’s a really tough fight with loads of pressure to come back because if AJ doesn’t win this fight, then we’ve got a major problem. I believe you’ll see a statement from a guy who is very dangerous, very motivated to become a three-time heavyweight world champion.”
Despite having a tough fight with recent WBC title contender Dillian White in November, Franklin has been written off as an easy opponent for Joshua.
