Prior to a potential all-British fight with champion Tyson Fury, two-time world champion Anthony Joshua has climbed the WBC heavyweight rankings.
Following two losses to Oleksandr Usyk, who won the WBA, IBF, and WBO titles in a rematch last month in Saudi Arabia by split decision, the British-Nigerian has been moved up to No. 6.
Prior to realizing that Usyk wouldn’t be able to box again until 2023, Fury, who defeated Dillian Whyte at Wembley in April, was considering a future matchup with the Ukrainian.
The 32-year-old had been scheduled to fight Joshua in August 2021, but a court in an arbitration case decided that Deontay Wilder was entitled to a third fight with Tyson Fury, so he has now called out the former champion on social media and given the 32-year-old a 60-40 payout.
In front of what may be an all-British superfight on December 3, Joshua’s management on Tuesday stated that they had agreed to the parameters Fury’s side had proposed.
