The Kaduna State Police Command has apprehended a notorious gunrunner, Bitrus Gyang, and confiscated 20 locally fabricated AK-47 rifles near Buruku Bridge in Igabi Local Government Area.

According to a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan, the arrest occurred around 4:00 pm when officers on patrol from the Buruku Division stopped a black Golf III saloon vehicle for a routine check. A search revealed the concealed rifles and an empty Type 06 magazine in the car’s booth.

Gyang, who hails from Barkin Ladi, Plateau State, admitted to transporting illegal firearms multiple times. “He is currently cooperating with the police as investigations continue to identify his accomplices,” ASP Hassan stated.

The Commissioner of Police, Audu Ali Dabigi, praised the officers for their vigilance and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to intensifying efforts against criminal elements across the state.
