The Kogi State Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, in collaboration with the Kogi State Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES), has launched a significant vaccination campaign to combat anthrax. This ambitious initiative, already reaching over 200,000 livestock, is set to protect cattle, sheep, and goats across Kogi State.

With an impressive 540,000 doses of the Anthrax Spore Vaccine provided, the campaign is dedicated to preventing the spread of this deadly disease while enhancing livestock health and productivity. During a recent visit to one of the vaccination centers, Dr. Olufemi Bolarin, the State Project Coordinator for Kogi L-PRES, emphasized the importance of the vaccination effort, noting it as a testament to the Kogi State Government’s commitment to bolstering livestock health and supporting farmers’ livelihoods.

Dr. Bolarin encouraged all farmers to participate actively by bringing their animals for vaccination. Supported by L-PRES’s donation of 500,000 vaccine doses, the campaign will continue until November 8, 2024.
