Kwara State Governor Charges New Local Government Officials

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has cautioned newly sworn-in local government chairpersons and vice chairpersons against extravagant living at the expense of the people.

In a ceremony held at the Government House in Ilorin on Monday, Governor AbdulRazaq emphasized the importance of prudence and community-focused governance. He urged the officials, who emerged victorious in elections conducted by the Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission, to prioritize the needs of their constituents.

“Our country is in a transitive phase with ongoing economic reforms. Please be sensitive to the realities of the time,” AbdulRazaq advised, stressing the importance of humility and service.

Speaking after administering the oath of office, the governor congratulated the new council executives and encouraged them to set realistic goals, be fair, and engage positively with stakeholders.

The swearing-in ceremony, which saw candidates of the All Progressives Congress sweep the polls, was attended by dignitaries including the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, and Chief Judge Justice Ayodele Adebara.

Chairman of Ilorin South Local Government Area, Bolakale Podo, speaking on behalf of his colleagues, pledged commitment to serving their communities diligently.

State APC Chairman Sunday Fagbemi expressed gratitude to Kwarans for their support and reaffirmed the party’s commitment to developing Kwara State.
