At the Global Tech Africa Conference, in July Lagos State Commissioner, Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment, Hon. Akinyemi, took center stage to unveil the groundbreaking ‘EMPOWER LAGOS’ initiative. This ambitious program underscores the commitment of Governor Babajide Sanwoolu’s administration to the THEMES+ Agenda, with a keen focus on gender equality, youth empowerment, and social inclusion for all residents of Lagos State.

Speaking to a diverse audience of innovators, entrepreneurs, and visionaries, Hon. Akinyemi emphasized the critical employment and skills gaps that the initiative aims to address. The ‘EMPOWER LAGOS’ initiative is designed to provide sustainable solutions that will not only boost economic growth but also significantly alleviate unemployment among individuals and small & medium-sized businesses in Lagos State.

A standout feature of the initiative is its goal to create sustainable wealth for at least 10,000 beneficiaries across various industries. This includes support for 2,000 postgraduates, 5,000 artisans, and 3,000 SMEs. The program’s design ensures that each beneficiary trains at least 10 other individuals, creating a ripple effect that is expected to impact over 100,000 Lagos State residents within 36 months.
