Nigerian striker, Ademola Lookman who scored his 13th league goal in Atalanta’s 3-1 win over Cremonese in a Serie A fixture played at the Stadio Giovanni Zini on Saturday, becomes the first striker to reach that milestone in his first season for the Nerazzurri in 70 years.
As he scored Atalanta’s third goal against Cremonese last weekend, the Nigerian international snapped a seven-game goalless streak.
The 25-year-old winger replaced Luis Muriel in the 46th minute and scored for the first time since January, bringing his total to 13 goals in 27 league games.
The former Everton striker has also performed admirably for Gian Piero Gasperini’s team and is a vital member of it.
In total, the winger has 15 goals this season for the Nerazzurri in 29 games played in all competitions.
The former Leicester City winger scored 13 goals in his first Serie A season, becoming the first Atalanta player to do so since Poul Rasmussen in 1952/1953, according to the statistical source Stats Perform – Opta.
“With Saturday’s goal against Cremonese, Ademola Lookman became the rookie to have scored the most in this league.
“The Nigerian striker has in fact reached 13 goals, detaching Kvaratskhelia of Napoli, and moving to third place overall in the scorers chart.
“The last Atalanta player to score at least 13 goals at this point of the season on his debut in Serie A was Poul Rasmussen in 1952/1953.”
