Edwin Van der Sar, a goalkeeper for Manchester United is currently being treated in an intensive care unit for brain bleeding.
The event happened on Friday, according to a statement issued by Ajax football club, where he previously played goalkeeping and most recently served as the chief executive.
The statement in part: “Edwin van der Sar has had a bleeding around his brain. He’s currently in hospital in the intensive care unit and is in stable condition.”
“Once there is more concrete information, an update will follow. Everyone at Ajax wishes Edwin a speedy recovery.”

The champions League-winning goalkeeper is regarded as a part of the club’s “golden generation” and was a member of the 1995 UEFA Champions League-winning Ajax squad.
The Dutchman, who won the Premier League in 2011 at the age of 40 years and 205 days, holds the record for being the oldest player to achieve it.
