Argentine superstar footballer Lionel Messi has received the “Baton of Football” from CONMEBOL, the body that governs football in South America.
The World Cup was depicted in a life-size statue of Messi holding it.
The football player posted pictures from the occasion on his Instagram feed on Monday.
He wrote, “Thanks to #conmebol for this tribute and to #sole_pastorutti for that beautiful moment. It was very special and emotional.”
Argentina, under the leadership of Messi, defeated France in the championship match to win the 2022 FIFA World Cup, which was played in Qatar.
