Former Zambian captain Enoch Mwepu was admitted to the Lusaka Cardiac Hospital with a heart condition.
Mwepu was hospitalised following his Saturday morning complaint of feeling unwell.
In an interview with ZNBC Sports, the development was confirmed by the health permanent secretary Luckson Kasonka.
Mwepu’s status is now considered to be mostly stable, according to Professor Kasonka.
In addition, Mwepu’s first coach in Zambia, Lee Kawanu of Kafue Celtic Football Club, has wished the former Chipolopolo midfielder a speedy recovery.
Also, in order to determine the best course of action for treating Mwepu’s health, UK specialists are in contact with their Zambian counterparts, according to Kawanu.
After receiving a hereditary heart problem diagnosis in October of last year, Mwepu had to withdraw from professional football at the age of 24.
