Former Vice-Chancellor of the Abia State University, Uturu, Prof. Eleazer Uche Ikonne who emerged as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2023 general elections has said  Trade and Investment will be a major pillar of his administration if elected as governor in May 2023.

He made this known in his meeting with traders from all the markets in the state.

The traders in their words said they had had time to give a close review to Prof Ikonne’s administration and policies in the education sector where he later emerged as the Vice Chancellor of Abia State University and consider it important to accept him as 2023 PDP governorship candidate. To also prove their support, the traders donated some campaign materials to the gubernatorial candidate.

Prof. Ikonne in his response to the traders commended their acts and assured them his administration will have Trade and Investment at the core of his administration.

According to him:
“Continuity drives development. You cannot abandon the already built infrastructures for new ones, our administration shall improve on already developed infrastructure by Governor Okezie Ikpeazu,

I will prioritize Trade and Investment. I am happy with work done so far by the Governor, and also the Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Chief John Okiyi Kalu,

My pledge to you all is that I will carry you along in this journey for the growth and development of our State.”
