The Nigeria Professional Football League’s newly assembled Interim Management Committee will be formally introduced on Friday.
Ibrahim Gusau, president of the Nigerian Football Federation, will inaugurate the committee after it has been assembled by Mr. Sunday Dare, minister of youth and sports development.
The IMC will be in place to “oversee the affairs of the league until a proper professional league board is put in place statutorily,” the sports ministry said in a press release announcing its composition. The ministry added that the move was “in line with the 10-year Football Masterplan as approved by President Muhammadu Buhari towards the revitalisation of the domestic league.”
On Friday at 11 a.m., the inauguration will take place at the NFF Conference Room inside the NFF Secretariat, Abuja.
Former Nigeria Sports Commission Director-General Gbenga Elegbeleye serves as the chairman of the 15-member IMC.
While Davison Owumi, the former CEO of the League Management Committee, will serve as the committee’s Head of Operations, Paul Bassey, chairman of Akwa United FC will serve as the deputy.
In addition to Daniel Amokachi and Kunle Soname, other members include Calvin Onwuka, Mohammed Sa’idu, Aliyu Adamu, Danladi Ibrahim, Poubeni Ogun, and Awalu Baba Jada.
Members of the committee will also include a representative of the Nigerian Police Force, and Olumide Bamiduro will act as secretary.
